Candidate for International Students Officer

Friendly Neighbourhood International Students Officer

Being an international student can sometimes feel like being a superhero. You arrive in a new country, face new challenges, manage studies, finances, and life far from home — all while building a future. It is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming.

As an international student myself, I understand these challenges. From adjusting to a new culture to finding part-time jobs and building connections, the journey is not always easy. That is why I am running for International Students Officer: to help ensure international students at UWE feel supported, heard, and connected.

💼 Helping You Survive (and Save Money)

Student life can be expensive, and many international students face financial pressure while studying abroad.

I want to strengthen the support available for international students looking for work opportunities and career guidance. This includes promoting access to part-time job opportunities, encouraging CV workshops, and supporting initiatives that help students prepare for the UK job market.

Sometimes the biggest challenge is knowing where to look for help. With clearer guidance and stronger support, international students can feel more confident managing finances and building their future.

📣 Making Sure Our Voices Are Heard

International students bring culture, ideas, and diversity that make UWE a truly global university.

However, our concerns are not always clearly communicated or represented. As International Students Officer, I will actively listen to international students and gather feedback about their experiences.

By working with the Students’ Union and university leadership, I will help ensure our perspectives are included in decisions that affect university life.

🌍 Building a Real Global Community

UWE is home to students from many countries and cultures, yet many of us stay within our own communities.

I want to support more international networking events, cultural celebrations, and student meetups that encourage students from different backgrounds to connect.

These opportunities can help students share experiences, build friendships, and create a stronger global community at UWE.

🏠 Making UWE Feel Like Home

Moving to another country is a huge step, and sometimes the hardest part is feeling that you belong.

My goal is to help create a university environment where international students feel welcomed, supported, and proud to be part of UWE.

Because international students are not just visitors — we are an essential part of this university community.
