GEORGINA DONOVAN

Connecting Students, Strengthening Voices.

Hi, I am Georgina, a 3rd-year Biological Sciences student. Having faced barriers to education as a disabled student, I’m passionate about creating an environment where all students feel supported and empowered to succeed, regardless of their personal circumstances.

What Experience Makes Me The Best Candidate?

As a Student Rep and Lead School Rep for the last 2 years, I have worked closely with staff to improve the student experience:

  • Supported the decision to maintain module choices in Biological Sciences, got a problematic coursework deadline extended and informed assessment brief improvements.
  • Ran a survey to gather data on students’ experiences in lectures, to inform lecture improvements.
  • Organising an Interschool Sports Day for the 22nd of May, as a collaboration between the School of Applied Sciences and the School of Engineering. There will be friendly competition and a BBQ!!!

If Successfully Elected, My Key Priorities Will Be:

  • Ensuring lecture content and delivery are accessible, engaging, and meet students’ needs by partnering with students and teaching teams to develop best-practice guidelines.
  • Strengthening community and belonging at UWE by supporting the development of academic societies and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Improving the student rep feedback system by working with students and staff to ensure feedback is heard, understood and actioned.
  • Continuing Khadiza’s (current VP Education) work on academic feedback quality and timetabling accessibility.
