Eden Edge

Eden’s Backing Bower & City Campus!

Hi! I’m Eden (she/her) and I’m running to represent Bower Ashton and the wider city campus because we are unique and deserve unique representation.

I’ve been at this campus for three years now and worked at the SU café during my studies. I have also been a course rep for Media Production BA, a welcome rep for the SU, and a student ambassador.

Getting to interact with students has been a pleasure, but so many have expressed their concerns about Frenchay always being in the spotlight and the independent issues creative and media students face.

This is why I am running for City Campus Officer.

Bristol’s an expensive city to live in, and the rising cost of project materials, awkward transport and lack of later-night food and drink options on City Campus can worsen burnout.

As your City Campus officer I will try my hardest to bridge the gap between Bower Ashton, Arnolfini and Spike Island when compared to Frenchay.

Establish a "Hardship Creative Materials Grant"

  •  Campaign for a dedicated fund for students who need financial support to access high-cost materials for their course.

Community & Social Life

  • Bower Ashton Socials: Fight for a dedicated SU budget to host regular non-alcoholic and alcohol-inclusive evening events (like open mics, quiz nights) right on campus so City Campus students don't have to travel to Frenchay for SU night life.

  • Later opening hours: It's not fair that the SU bar on Frenchay stays open late, especially when after 6 on Bower means no options for food or drinks outside of vending machines. I will try my hardest to expand these options and give fellow students more places to relax after lessons.

  • More Societies at Bower: I will campaign for societies to host more events on Bower Ashton.

Better Transport

  • Direct Bus Links: Campaign for higher frequency buses from City Campus sites and for direct bus links connecting Bower Ashton to Frenchay and Glenside.
  • Lighting: As the Winter months roll in, the street lighting around Bower Ashton could almost certainly be improved. I will try my hardest to lobby to fix this.

City Campus is the creative heart of UWE, and you deserve a Student's Union that meets your needs and supports your course and future career. I promise to listen to all City Campus students, and always listen to any ideas you suggest.
