Candidate for the position of Democratic Procedures Officer

NEHZAD ZUBIN

Every Voice Deserves A Say

Why I am standing :

I’m running for Democratic Procedures Officer because students should actually feel like they have a say in what happens at their Students Union. I care about making sure people feel comfortable speaking up and that their ideas and concerns are taken seriously.

Through my involvement in climate activism, I’ve developed a better understanding of inclusion, diversity and equality, and how important it is to make sure different perspectives are not left out. I’ve also had experience raising issues, speaking with people in higher positions and putting forward views on behalf of others.

What I want to focus on :

Make sure everyone has a chance to be heard.
Students come from different backgrounds and have different experiences. I want to help create an environment where everyone feels welcome to take part, especially people who might not normally feel confident speaking up.

Keep things fair and transparent.
If students raise an issue or an idea, they should be able to trust that it will be dealt with fairly. I would listen to different sides, follow the rules and make sure things are handled transparently.

Make things easier to understand.
Not everyone knows how Students’ Union meetings, student ideas or democratic processes work. I want to help make these things easier to understand, so students know how they can actually get involved.

Help turn ideas into action.
Students can have great ideas but sometimes don't know where to take them. I want to help make that process clearer and easier, so students know what they can do with their ideas.

I want to bring my knowledge and experience into the role, listen to different perspectives and help students feel more comfortable having their say. I want people to know that their ideas matter and that there is a clear way to get them heard.

Every voice should have a place in our democracy.
