To run in The Student Elections 2026 you must nominate yourself by the nomination deadline (Wednesday 11 March 12:00 midday). Any issues with nominations then please email suelections@uwe.ac.uk.

It's the electoral event of the year - your chance to nominate, debate, and vote for your student leaders for 2026/27. Our five full-time Sabbatical Officers, eleven Part-Time Officers, and Democratic Procedure Officers positions are available for this Election. Have your say to make The Students' Union even bigger and better!

Nominations close at 12:00 on Wednesday 11 March 2026 (in 5 weeks and 6 days)
The polls open at 08:00 on Monday 23 March 2026 (in 7 weeks and 4 days)
1) Log into the Student's Union website, you will find this in the top right hand corner of this page.
2) Click on 'Stand in Election' button.
3) Select 'Profile' and select all student groups that your identify with.
4) Select 'Stand' and fill in your information, include confirming you have read key documents associated with the Elections and personal information.
5) Scroll down to find the role that you want to run for in the Elections. If you cannot find the role you are looking for you may need to be a self-defined member of that group to run for that role. You can update your self-definition groups above the roles.
6) Provide the student numbers of 5 current UWE Bristol students who support your nomination. There is no obligation for them to vote for you in the elections and they can back multiple candidates in the Elections. Make sure you hit 'Find Person' on each line and select the right student.
7) Your nomination is now pending approval, you will receive an update on whether you are approved as a candidate within 3 working days, no later than the deadline of Wednesday 11 March in the afternoon.
8) To submit your manifesto and photo, select 'Upload' under 'Manifesto' where you can add your photo and your manifesto. You can edit your manifesto before the deadline, guidance on what makes a good manifesto can be found here.
All candidates will automatically be 'Unapproved' when submitting their nomination until the Elections team have checked the eligibility of you and your 5 supporters, if there is an issue with your eligibility you will be contacted by the Elections team with clear actions to resolve. If you change your mind and decide you do not want to run in the Elections or you want to run for another position instead, select 'Withdraw' under 'Action' or you can email suelections@uwe.ac.uk to withdraw your nomination.
