The Students’ Union and UWE Bristol are seeking a dedicated and proactive Postgraduate Research (PGR) Lead Rep. This role involves representing PGR students on key university committees and engaging with the wider PGR community to gather and present student opinions. 

UWE Bristol is keen to improve the representation of PGR students. This position is crucial in UWE's wider efforts to provide better visibility for the PGR student voice across all levels of the University. 

Duties:

  • Lead Representation: Act as the lead representative for postgraduate research students within the university, ensuring PGR concerns are prioritised and addressed. 
  • Committee Participation: Represent PGR students on key university committees, presenting student opinions and ideas. 
  • Student Engagement: Engage with PGR students outside of committee meetings to gather information and understand their needs and concerns. 
  • Feedback and Communication: Provide feedback to staff and student representatives to enhance the university experience by amplifying the student voice. 
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on student opinions, issues, themes, and best practices relevant to the PGR community. Disseminate findings to key stakeholders and collaborate on positive actions. 
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with UWE staff, Students’ Union staff, and existing PGR student reps. 
  • Evidence-Based Reporting: Contribute evidence-based student opinions on university proposals and ideas, reporting findings in meetings. 

Qualifications: 

  • Current postgraduate research student at UWE Bristol. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to represent and advocate for student interests effectively.

The postholder will be required to undergo paid induction. 

Rate of Pay:

This role is paid through an honorarium payment for each University meeting attended that is supported with evidence-based research and where outcomes are reported back to Student Reps / The Students’ Union. This role does not have an hourly rate associated with it. The payment paid per meeting is - 

  • £40 for training 
  • £50 for each university meeting attended or pre-agreed student engagement activity/other initiatives.

Location:

Meetings take place on Frenchay Campus. 

The postholder will be expected attend meetings at Frenchay and conduct research with students at suitable physical or digital locations.
