September's Successes

As most of you already know, there were tonnes of events and activities happening all over UWE last month to mark the start of a new academic year. Freshers’ Week kicked things off in style with events such as the Welcome Party, Livewire, Pizza and Bowl, Club Noche, a Comedy Night and loads more. The highlight was of the week was of course the Freshers Fair, which played host to the all of the SU’s clubs, societies, networks and campaigns groups. Over 10,000 students came along to take advantage of the free Domino’s pizza get involved, making it the biggest and best Freshers Fair yet!

Here on Glenside we held our very own teeny, tiny version of the Freshers Fair in the form of the Glenside Welcome Event. Loads of you came down to the Student Centre to meet members of our clubs and societies, sign up for things, pick up freebies and just generally hang out and have a chat. Several student friendly organisations including RCN and UNISON had stalls at the event and have since commented on how much they enjoyed the event and how nice it was to meet so many eager students – so a massive THANK YOU to all of you that made it such a big success!

If you did come down to the Welcome Event then you might’ve noticed that the coffee shop in the Student Centre has had a fresh lick of paint. The whole place is looking a lot better for it and there are plenty more new touches to come. Your Students’ Union are working on plans to make the Glenside Student Centre a much comfier, cosier, more relaxing place to be so watch this space for more improvements…

Welcome!

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your new Campus Community Co-ordinator for Glenside.

My role primarily involves encouraging people to engage with the Students’ Union. I’m here to help with signposting, getting people involved with events, activities, campaigns and volunteering on campus and keeping everyone up to date with what’s happening via social media. Basically, I’ll be responsible for making you all feel welcome at Glenside!

If you have any questions or just want to say hi then you can find me in the Glenside Student Centre between 10am and 3pm, Monday-Friday. Alternatively you can email me: Liz.Murray@uwe.ac.uk or add me on Facebook if you fancy a chat: facebook.com/liz.uwesu.

Looking forward to meeting you all soon!

Liz
