Clothes mending and upcycling session

Clothes mending and upcycling session

Mon 18 October 2021 16:00-18:00

The Students' Union Frenchay Campus, Upper Engagement Space

Stitch it don't ditch it! Turn your rags into riches!

Come and learn how to mend your clothes instead of throwing them away, help save the planet and save some money as well. Bring some clothes to fix if you can - socks, jeans, tops, coats, etc., or clothes which you'd like to jazz up with a patch or some embroidery (if you don't have any clothes you want to bring we will also be providing some).

What to expect:

  • Whether you have never mended anything before or you are brilliant at sewing - we welcome everyone to come along and learn how to fix their clothes in a friendly and relaxed way.
  • All needles and threads and other equipment will be provided.
  • We'll be showing you how to make your own hair scrunchies.
  • At 5pm, Beth from Reclaimed Craft Bristol will be telling us a bit about clothes mending, sustainable fashion and Street Stitchers and the 'stitch it don't ditch it' movement, as well as teaching us some sewing skills.
  • There will be free tea and biscuits!
