The first BDAS event of 2026 has been released, it has strong relevance for students across creative, social sciences, technology, and activism spaces.

🏳️‍🌈 In celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month

This event will explore how representation, storytelling, technology, and activism intersect in real-world contexts, offering students insight into how values-driven work can translate into meaningful careers and creative practice beyond university.

Why this is useful for students

• Gain practical insight and inspiration from professionals working across creative direction, immersive technology (XR/VR), documentary filmmaking, events, and equality leadership
• Understand how representation and storytelling shape culture and social change — relevant to creative practice, media, design, education, and activism
• Access networking opportunities with Bristol-based organisations, supporting employability, placements, and future collaboration
• Take part in a supportive LGBTQ+ History Month space that centres lived experience, inclusive leadership, and diverse voices
• Build confidence engaging with ideas, asking questions, and connecting with peers who share interests in creativity, equality, and social justice

• Antonia Forster – Senior XR Engineer, TEDx Speaker, Award-Winning Director of the LGBTQ+ VR Museum
• Chaired by Louise Ndibwirende – UWE Alumna, TEDx & Keynote Speaker, Multi-Award-Winning Equality Specialist, Documentary Director & Producer, Watershed Trustee
• Lady Phyll – Co-Founder & CEO of UK Black Pride, former Executive Director of Kaleidoscope Trust (joining online, subject to confirmation)

There will also be networking opportunities for students with a range of Bristol organisations, including Diversity Trust and the LGBTQIA+ Staff Network.
