WHAT TO EXPECT:

Explore Frenchay Campus to see how many different kinds of lichen may be hiding in plain sight! This event commemorates the work of Elke McKenzie, one of Schools OUT's five Historical Figures for this year's LGBT+ History Month.

This event is open to staff and students.

All welcome, whether you identify as LGBTQIA+ or are a wonderful ally!

• What to wear/bring: warm and waterproof clothes. Closed toe shoes/boots. Water and snacks. Mobile phone to take pictures. A hand lens if you have one. You may be able to buy or borrow lenses from the Environmental Science Technicians team. See this website for examples (The NHBS Guide to Hand Lenses). If you are able, print out a colour copy of the attached guide (or have a copy to refer to on your phone).

• What we will do: We will go for a leisurely walk around campus looking for different examples of lichen species. We can discuss some basic aspects of their ecology.
