We are looking for UWE Bristol students to support our 2026 Welcome Programme as Welcome and Late Night Do It Right Reps this September.

Overview of Welcome 

The Welcome programme settles new and returning students back into the UWE Bristol community and includes a huge range of events,activities and campaigns including the two-day Freshers Fair, Glenside and Bower Welcome Fairs, Speed Friending, Art and Craft activities and much more!

The Students' Union at UWE are looking for UWE students who will be available to work the Welcome programme from the start of September and into October (week commencing 9th September-16 October 2026)

Welcome Reps 

Welcome Rep shifts will be available on weekdays, evenings, and weekends throughout September and into the first weeks of October 2026.

Shifts will vary in length from around 2 hours up to 9 hours.

*Please note that Welcome Rep positions are casual student staff positions.

This means that shifts will be offered to you, and you can offer to pick up shifts dependant on your individual availability, so work can fit around your study and personal commitments- although we are looking for students who are eager to work and pick up lots of shifts each week to make the 2026 Welcome Programme a success! 

Welcome Reps will need knowledge of at least one of the UWE campus sites and an understanding of The Students' Union at UWE and our offering to students, therefore this position is not suitable for students joining UWE as new students in 2026.

We are looking for students with a can-do attitude who are willing to take on a variety of tasks to make the 2026 Welcome events programme a success.

We recruit Welcome Reps to:

• Support event leads to successfully run events for students
• Create a sense of community for new and returning students by actively engaging with students and answering any questions that they might have
• Welcome new and returning students to UWE Bristol and signposting the services and opportunities offered by The Students' Union at UWE!

The role involves:

• Setting up and packing down events (including manual handling)
• Supporting event leads with running successful events
• Answering student questions during events and activity
• Selling wristbands and tickets for events
• Litter picking and keeping the campus sites clean and tidy during and after events
• Welcoming students into events and activities and answering any questions they might have 
• Signposting key Students' Union services, support, and opportunities 
• Supporting event leads and Interns with additional duties as asked
• Positively representing The Students’ Union at UWE throughout the programme

Skills and Experience:

• Friendly
• Approachable 
• Can-do attitude
• Ideally some knowledge of The Students' Union at UWE 
• Customer Service Experience would be great but is not essential as long as you feel confident in speaking and engaging with students!
• Knowledge of at least one UWE Bristol campus (Bower, Glenside or Frenchay)

Full training will be provided, this includes manual handling and health and safety training.

You will also receive briefings for any shifts that you offer to work and as mentioned above, you can offer to work the shifts that appeal to you!

We are looking for students who actively want to work and want to contribute to a successful Welcome programme.

Rate of Pay:

£13.44 per hour 

*Please note this hourly rate will be inflated to include holiday pay

We will be holding 2 training sessions for successful Welcome Reps; it will be mandatory to attend one of the following sessions, please ensure you are available to attend at least one of the following dates ahead of applying:

• Online training 2^nd September 2026
• In-Person training on 8th September 2026 ( Frenchay)

You can apply to be BOTH a Welcome Rep and a Late Night Do It Right Rep, or for just one of the positions. 

We will conduct Group Interviews for both positions combined, so you can also change your mind and offer to work or decide not work either position following the Group Interview (if you are invited to attend). 

To apply for any of our Welcome roles you must be available to work from the 9th of September 2026 (in-person, in Bristol), through to early October. These are temporary casual positions, and they will end in Mid-October 2026.
