Who We Are?

We're the UWE CSS a student let society, open to anyone into computing and tech, whatever your course or skill level. We run tech talks, hackathons, game nights and put you in touch with companies in the industry. Come to one thing or come to everything, it's up to you.

What are we planning?

Hackathons

To our members Join our Hackathons, for a challenging yet fun competition, where you get to display the skills you've gathered these years, and we guarantee you will learn more in this hackathon than a week of lectures.

Tech Talks

We bring in people working in the industry (and academia) to talk about what they do, how they got there, and what's happening in tech right now, giving you helpful insight for your future and helping you get ready for what's to come.

Socials

No club or society is truly complete without some socializing (every CS student's worst nightmare). Ranging from game nights to casual meetups, it's less about studying and more about getting to know people who are interested in helping you.

Weekly Workshops

A regular slot every week where you can just turn up, work on your own stuff, ask questions, or just hang out with other members. No agenda, no pressure, just a chance to be around people who are interested in understanding you.

Company Connections

Our top priority is to give you a better headstart. We link members up with companies in the tech industry, so you can start building the kind of contacts that help once you graduate.

Other Events

Women in Tech a flagship event celebrating and supporting women pursuing careers in technology, paneldiscussion, audience Q&A and networking, delivered jointly with partner societies and BCS Women.

What if you are still doubting joining?

Some our events are free to register plus you can always come to our weekly workshops and have chat. After all the the point of societies is to meet people you wouldn't otherwise run into.
