Mooting is a mock court competition where students take on a fictional legal case and present their arguments to a judge, or panel of judges. Teams of two will take on the challenge of legal research, building a skeleton argument, verbally presenting the argument and responding to judicial intervention (an interruption to your argument with a critical question). If you want to become a barrister, mooting is an essential extracurricular to get involved in early on in your career. Even if you don't want to pursue a barrister's career path, mooting builds skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, team work and the ability to work under pressure. Early into the academic year of 2026/2027, our fabulous Master and Mistress of mooting will put on sessions and create materials to support new mooters, and those who want a refresher. Please don't hestitate to reach out if you have any questions, or would like to know how to get involved.
If you have any questions, feedback, or just want to get in touch, we're here to help. Feel free to contact us via email or reach out to our dedicated committee members directly. Your questions and suggestions are important to us.
