The UWE Multimedia society is a community of queer and femme students who believe that art should be for the people. We believe in the elimination of commercial involvement, alienation, autocracy and division within artistic spaces and commit to creating an environment where students are free to express themselves however they wish. Our background as a committee is rooted in photography and filmmaking, and we invite other artists to join us in our endeavour.
We believe that the denigration of art as a result of conservative influence and class division has reached a fever pitch, and as such, our core beliefs include a vehement anti-AI and anti-capitalist stance with radical feminism and queer inclusion at the forefront of what we do. We believe that collective action can shape an environment where art can thrive.
Everyone is welcome at our screenings, exhibitions, workshops and socials, but we do ask you to acknowledge our zero-tolerance policy on prejudice. The goal for all events is to expose perhaps otherwise inaccessible creative media and to give others the opportunity to take part in creating something new, and we will always strive to keep events free but may ask for small donations for events where financial detriment is unavoidable.
Submit bad art, good art, or nothing at all, and find a world where any piece is celebrated.
