UWE Pole Dance and Fitness Society
Burn calories, sculpt and tone your muscles, increase your flexibility, improve coordination and grace, discover dance styles, and build your confidence and self-esteem. Pole dancing can do any and all of these things for you, so we would like to welcome you to join us to discover and achieve your fitness goals, whatever they may be. UWE Pole Society is one of the warmest, welcoming and friendliest societies. With over 100 members each year there are plenty of opportunities to meet new people and create new friendships. So what are you waiting for? Come and join us, we'd love to have you as a member!
Membership is only £20 for the WHOLE YEAR, just head to the right-hand side of this page and add to basket.
Make sure you like us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/uwepolesoc/) and follow us on Instagram @uwepolesociety (https://www.instagram.com/uwepolesociety/) as this is where most information about what we get up to in the year is posted. We have a number of taster sessions at the beginning of term so keep an eye out for our posts about these or sign up to our mailing list by posting your email address on the Facebook page or by DMing us on Instagram.
As a committee, we will ensure that you are well taken care of and that you have plenty of events to look forward to! Regular socials and chances to perform and compete will be organised for our members.

I have never been on a pole before, can I still join the society? Of course! The society is for everyone who has an interest in pole dance or pole fitness and we are looking forward to welcoming new people into the pole community. (Even many of our own committee members are beginners, so don't worry at all about feeling behind or out of place!)
Do I need to be fit/flexible/strong/coordinated to do pole? No! Beginners classes are designed to help build up these abilities and you do not need any prior dancing or fitness ability in order to attend.
About classes? UWE Pole recommends booking classes with Spin City Bristol,184 Hotwell Road, Bristol BS8 4RT. The society has connections with this studio and they offer half-price lessons to students on Wednesday afternoons (£6). They also offer discounted prices on some evening classes if booked after a certain time on the day of the class. Check their website for more information and feel free to get in contact with UWE Pole if you have any questions or worries!
Who is pole for? Is it just for girls? No! UWE pole welcomes everyone! We aim to be completely inclusive and wish for our society to be a safe space for anyone who wants to partake. All we ask of our members is that you are respectful and accepting, as we will not tolerate anyone being made to feel uncomfortable in any way.
What about socials? This year we aim to put on regular socials to give our members a chance to bond, socialise and get a great society experience. These will include nights out, meals, trips etc. We will also let our members have a say in what type of socials they would like to attend via polls so if you choose to sign up look out for those!
About memberships? How do I purchase one? Memberships are £20 for the whole year and include invites to our socials, access to free on campus pole practice sessions, chances to partake in fundraisers, opportunities to compete and perform and we aim to add much more!
