Roleplay, is assuming the role of a character in an ever changing and evolving story. Wargaming you assume the Role of a General, and must use tactics and knowledge to crush your foe.
Hello! We play tabletop Wargames. But wait, there’s more! We also play Roleplay games. But wait, there’s more! We play Card games too!
Come and join us in Q-block every Wednesday, from 17:00 until 21:30, and now also on Sundays from 09:00-18:00 (and possibly past then)! Whether you’re completely new to our scene and want to learn how to play, or are an experienced player ready to battle, we welcome all! Our Society has grown significantly this over the previous year, and now is the perfect time to get involved in any of the multitude of games we have to offer.
Wargames (running in 2Q50): Assemble a collection, get your dice ready, and fight to the end! Against your opponent's models, preferably... Wargames are strategic battles using a vast array of miniatures, painted and customised to suit your own tastes. We play a variety of games from Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar, to Middle-earth and Star Wars Legion, as well as smaller games such as Kill Team. Occasionally, we hold events ranging from narratives, large-scale team battles, and tournaments! For yet another time, we're delighted to confirm a return of our beloved Blood Bowl "Pandemic Cup" League too!
Roleplaying games: Time to get those wizard hats on, and immerse yourself into a world of endless possibilities. If you’re just a mere dragon who has a thirst for dungeons, or you’re obsessed with finding paths, or just want Cthulu’s phone number... find or make a group, create your character, and start your adventure with us! We run one-shot events throughout the year, with major hits around the holidays and during our Guild Games event! (Please note: Roleplaying sessions are all organised through our Discord due to the long run time of sessions. Space is available on Sundays for groups to use, though it is up to your group to decide on a time which suits best equally. Our resources for D&D, books, boards, etc. can be collected in the week at the discretion of the Committee).
Card Games (running in 2Q48 on Wednesdays): Do you like cardboard as much as we do? Good! Card games like Magic the Gathering are perfect for those interested in a social, multiplayer game that’s easy to learn or teach your friends if you want to bring them along. Assemble a deck and play against each other until the last person standing (or more likely sitting, but we won't stop you)!
If there’s something else you’d like to introduce people to, we’d be more than happy to provide a space for you to do that and get involved. There are plenty of systems people play as individuals, but don't have immense playerbases. Games like Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon TCG, Necromunda, Star Wars RPG etc. always come up from time to time. If you don't ask, you won't find out! So...

We have many channels with dedicated sections to as many of the hobbies as possible! Feel free to ask questions or strike up a conversation in any of those channels - you can even organise playing games there! We run several events throughout the year, including Warhammer tournaments and Apocalypse sized games/ campaigns, Magic the Gathering drafts and Roleplay taster nights. This year, we're going to be hosting them during our Sunday slots (unless it requires the whole weekend, naturally).
But, stick around for our ultimate event: Guild Games! Normally you can join us in taking over the top of the SU for a whole twenty-four hours of non-stop gaming! Sorry to say, though, we're not doing that this year...
The Committee (with the help of the previous years' too) have discovered that Roleplaying has been done here at UWE since before it was even UWE! Forty years ago, when the grounds were still used as a college, some people were still donning robes and pointy hats. Suppose we'll never change!
So forget twenty-four hours, because that's nothing-
