Assorted weekly events on and off of Frenchay Campus
Welcome to UWE SSAGO!
Our society is a part of the larger organisation, SSAGO, which has groups nationwide at many different universities. Contrary to the name, we are NOT scouts or guides so you don't need any involvement in Scouts or Guides to Join us.
We provide members with various activities on and off of Frenchay campus including Hikes, camps, activity days and quiz nights. Please come to one of our sessions to learn more about what we will be up to this semester!
This is your society/sports club committee election for the 26/27 academic year! If you would like to be on the committee for your sports club/society you must be a confirmed registered UWE student for the 26/27 academic year. You will only be able to nominate yourself for ONE COMMITTEE POSITION ONLY. Once nominations have closed, voting will open. You will be able to vote using an alternative voting system. To find out what alternative voting means, please watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA3_t-08Vr0

Nominations close at 23:59 on Thursday 19 February 2026 (in 30 hours)
The polls open at 12:00 on Monday 23 February 2026 (in 4 days and 18 hours)
Our usual sessions alternate on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 6 pm and 8 pm around Frenchay Campus. The sessions include various things like hikes, film nights, trips out and working towards badges. We also participate in national events (Rallies, Balls and camps) which at typically on the weekends and will be listed in our semester Schedule. We have an Instagram and WhatsApp group.
A Rally is a national camp, held once every term (3 each academic year), where SSAGO groups around the UK meet up to join in activities, have adventures and make new friends. Each Rally has a theme chosen by the host club, which is typically linked to the activities, and is the basis of the optional fancy dress Competition.
Each year, 1 SSAGO club will host a ball for all members, offering a formal sit-down meal, dancing and a chance to see other members outside of the mud and camping clothes. Much like the Rallies, they are themed and include activities to make the event a weekend trip!
Nope! It's never too late to join us and we do offer your first 2 sessions free before we ask for you to purchase a membership. We do ask after this that you purchase a membership as this helps pay for things like the neckers and badges as well as more fun events. Anyone can join and you do not need to have any prior experience in Scouting or Guiding before.
