Assorted weekly events on and off of Frenchay Campus
Welcome to UWE CoGS!
Our society (UWE Club of Guides and Scouts) is a part of the larger national organisation SSAGO (Student Scout And Guide Organisation) which operates at dozens of universities across the country. This DOES NOT mean that you would need prior experience in scouts or guides to take part. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
We offer members various activities on and off Frenchay campus including hikes, camps, crafts and quiz nights; working towards fun and some badge work.
Please come to one of our sessions to learn more about what we will be up to this semester!
Below you can see one of our beloved club mascots, so far we have two axolotls, named Alex and Alexi who go with us on our national events. But more are likely on the way!

Our usual sessions will be held on Tuesdays between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm around Frenchay campus and Bristol. This doesn't exclude activities from happening other days, just mostly Tuesdays. (Subject to change in the new academic year, all updates will be on Instagram)
The sessions include various things like hikes, film nights, trips out and working towards badges. In the last year we have completed a number of badges, mostly aimed at Beavers (6-8 year olds) so nothing too difficult. Have a look at our Instagram to see what we've been up to and (hopefully) find a schedule for the upcoming term.
A Rally is a national camp, held once every term (3 each academic year), where SSAGO groups around the UK meet up to join in activities, have adventures and make new friends. Each Rally has a theme chosen by the host club, which is typically linked to the activities.
We attended all three last year and will be doing the same again this time!

Each year, a different SSAGO club will host a ball for all members, offering a formal sit-down meal, dancing and a chance to see other members outside of the mud and camping clothes. Much like the Rallies, they are themed and include activities to make the event a weekend trip!
We've never made it to a ball before, but we're optamistic about this year!
Last years was Murder Mystery Ball in Birmingham.
This year it's going to be Beach Ball in Swansea.
Nope! It's never too late to join us and we do offer your first 2 sessions free before we ask for you to purchase a membership. We do ask after this that you purchase a membership as this helps pay for things like the neckers and badges as well as more fun events. Anyone can join and you do not need to have any prior experience in Scouting or Guiding before.
