INTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABILITY
The Students’ Union is bold and innovative in creating positive sustainable change.
In 2015, the United Nations set out the Sustainable Development Goals. They address global challenges we collectively face, encompassing climate change, inequalities, poverty, inequality, peace and justice. The goals are interconnected and are equally relevant to both developed and developing countries. The SDGs act as a blueprint for The Students' Union, as we move together to create a better world for all.
Our approach to sustainability is intersectional, as the climate emergency is tightly intertwined with inequalities of gender, race and class. Therefore climate justice = social justice.
The Students’ Union is committed to building a diverse and inclusive organisation reflecting the customers and communities we serve. Our strategic plan envisions us “embedding sustainability into all that we do”.
