How are you feeling? Check out our worry busters below:

  • Student finance can help! Maintenance loans are there to help you cover your living costs, such as accommodation, groceries and travel to uni If you’ve applied for finance but it hasn’t come through yet, speak to UWE’s Student Money Service. In this situation, make sure to speak to accommodation services if living on campus or your landlord/agency if renting privately so they know your situation before your next rent payment is due.

  • If you are looking for a job while studying, check out The Students’ Union JobShop to find jobs exclusive to UWE students! If you are an international student, you may be eligible for UWE’s International Student Support Fund

We’re so excited that you’ve chosen Bristol as your new home!

  • UWE guarantee accommodation for first year undergraduate and postgraduate students joining in September 2026 if you submit your preferences before Tuesday 1 September 2026.

  • If you’re not a first year and are still looking for accommodation for this academic year, check out our recommended accommodation platform UWE Studentpad for properties that are still available. Once you’ve settled into UWE life and are thinking about your accommodation for the following year, check out our list of accommodation providers via our website. Check out our Student Accommodation Guide here!

We know that moving to a new place can be nerve wracking, but we hope that in time you will love Bristol as much as we do! Plus, almost everyone around you is in the same boat, learning how to live alone for the first time in a new city, so don’t feel like you are alone.

If you feel homesick, why not join a club or society to find other people with shared interests. Our Give it a Go taster sessions are the perfect way to try something new or to continue with your favourite activities from home.

You can also get in touch with UWE’s Wellbeing Service for support if needed.

If you have other issues such as immigration, council tax queries or course changes, please contact UWE Infopoint.

University is a great place to meet new people and make friends for life!

  • Joining a society or sports club will put you in the perfect place to meet people with the same interests as you.

  • We run events throughout the year too so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to make friends outside of your course and accommodation.

  • Our buildings are also the perfect space to meet and hang out with friends. We have board games and a Nintendo Switch console at each campus, and places to get food and drink from our Union 2 bar at Frenchay and Cafe at Bower.
