Committee Elections

CLUB AND SOCIETY COMMITTEE ELECTIONS

All sports clubs and societies at UWE are run by student committees, and committee members are elected by the members during an election period organized by the Students’ Union at UWE.

To be eligible to be a committee member, you must meet the following criteria:

Elected into a role – You must be elected during the online elections, following the Students' Union procedures.
Be a registered UWE student – You must be a UWE student for the academic year you are elected to serve.
Complete committee training – Attend and complete all required Students' Union committee training.
Submit required documentation – This includes signing the club/society constitution, submitting a budget form, completing a risk assessment, and attending development meetings.
Be a paid member – You must be a paid member of the relevant sports club or society and have paid the appropriate membership fee.
Good standing with the Students’ Union – You must not be banned or have any sanctions related to club or society activities.

When:

Nomination Period: 12:00 Monday 2nd February 2026 - 23:59 Thursday 19th February 2026
Voting Period: 12:00 Monday 23rd February 2026 - 23:59 Thursday 26th February 2026

Where: Elections will be held online on your sports club or society webpages.

How to get involved:

Who can nominate themselves: Current members who will be a registered UWE student in the 25/26 academic year.
Available positions: There are core (mandatory) and additional committee roles. Core roles must be filled for clubs and societies to remain active.
You can only nominate yourself for 1 position in the election, so make sure you nominate yourself for the role you really want to run for!

PLEASE NOTE: To be eligible to nominate yourself for a committee role, you must be available to attend one full day of mandatory committee training if elected. Unfortunately, if you are unable to attend any of the scheduled training dates, you will not be eligible to stand in the election.

Please note: Completion of committee training is compulsory. Any elected member who does not attend will be removed from their position. To ensure transparency and allow everyone to plan ahead, we are sharing the training dates in advance.

Committee Training Dates for 26/27 Members:

Tuesday 31st March
Wednesday 1st April
Sunday 26th April
Monday 27th April
Tuesday 28th April
Thursday 7th May
Friday 8th May

Core Committee Positions (Mandatory)

President
Vice-President
Treasurer

These positions must be filled to keep your club or society active. If these roles are not elected, your club/society will be closed for the 25/26 academic year.

Additional Committee Positions

Examples: Sustainability Officer, Participation & Equality Officer, Events & Fundraising Officer, Media & Publicity Officer,
You can nominate for these roles during the same election. To add any additional positions to your committee, fill out this form before (TBC).

Important Notes

25% + 1 of your members must vote for the election to be valid.
This is the only opportunity for members to be added to the committee for the 25/26 academic year.
If you miss the nomination or election deadline, we will not reopen elections.
Failure to fill core positions (President, Vice-President, Treasurer) means your club/society will be closed.

By-Elections for 25/26 Committee Roles

If your club or society has vacant committee roles, there will be an opportuntiy for your current members to be elected into these roles for the current academic year, during our by-election period. You will recieve furhter information about these by-elections closer to the time, but some key dates can be found below:

Nominations open for vacant roles: 12:00 Monday 15th December 2025
Nominations close for vacaent roles: 23:59 Sunday 4th January 2026
By-election voting opens: 12:00 Monday 5th Janujary 2026
By-election voting closes: 23:59 Thursday 8th January 2026
