Student Council Members represent your student voice; pass Student Ideas and hold your Students’ Union President Team to account.
Your Students’ Union is run by students, for students. Students’ Union Council is made up of around 20 students who are elected from different student groups to oversee what the Students’ Union and student leadership does.
What happens at Student Council? The Students’ Union Council meets at least three times each academic time a year. During meetings, Student Council Members also ask questions to your Students’ Union President Team. These questions may concern current student issues, President progress on objectives, student ideas implementation, or updates on events and campaigns that The Students’ Union is running.
Your Presidents provide updates on the work they have been doing to improve student experience this year. You can find all updates, questions asked, and the full Council discussion in the minutes.
Any student* is able to attend The Students’ Union Council and propose ideas to improve their University experience and ask questions of your Presidents - we’d love to see you at the next Council meeting!
20 students are elected from engaged groups across The Students' Union to sit on Student Council. There are 5 elected from Sports Conference, 5 elected form Rep Council, 5 elected from Societies Conference (NFI Societies) and 5 more from Societies Conference (non NFI Societies).
*You must be a member of The Students’ Union and not opted out during your registration process. You can check your Students’ Union membership status at InfoPoint and change this at any time of your studies.
