Important information for any event involving food.
Food hygiene is exceptionally important when preparing, handling or serving food. Whenever a club or society activity involves food, the risks and hazards associated with the activity must be carefully assessed and form part of your risk assessment.
If you are preparing and serving food that you have made (e.g. for a bake sale) then every individual involved in the preparation or handling of food must have a valid level two food hygiene certificate or be supervised by someone that has this qualification. We recommend this online course: https://food-safety.org.uk/courses/. Please email certificates of completion to your relevant coordinator prior to the event.
For events with an external caterer, please email a copy of the food hygiene rating, and a copy of the caterer’s public liability insurance to your relevant coordinator prior to the event.
