Reclaiming Narratives
Join Us for Black History Month: Standing Firm in Power and Pride
At UWE Bristol, diversity is not just a word; it's a celebration of strength, unity, and empowerment. This October, we invite you to stand with us as we commemorate Black History Month. It's a time to honor the incredible contributions of Black individuals, communities, and cultures to our shared history.
The Black Hall of Fame at UWE is a celebration of the remarkable
achievements of Black students and staff, recognising their success
and impact beyond Black History Month. Now in its sixth year, this
initiative was originally led by previous Students’ Union President
Precious Onyenekwu Tatah. The Hall of Fame honours individuals
who have not only excelled academically but have also overcome
racial biases and made meaningful contributions to society.
This project is led by the Current Black Minority Ethnic Officer Mo Ebengho
to celebrate the importance of diversity and inclusion.
It shines a light on the resilience, strength, and brilliance of the Black community at UWE, ensuring their achievements are celebrated all year round.
More than just a recognition event, the Hall of Fame is a platform for
inspiring future generations. It sends a powerful message that
diversity enriches the academic environment and strengthens the
university community, encouraging others to strive for excellence in
their own journeys.
