Adviser Overview
As The Students’ Union at UWE are a separate organisation to UWE Bristol, our Advice Service is able to provide independent advice, guidance, support and information to all UWE Bristol students.
Advice is offered from the main Advice Centre at The Students’ Union on Frenchay campus, and weekly from The Students’ Union offices at Glenside and Bower Ashton.
Advice is offered in person, via email and telephone.
On average we open approximately 1,000 cases every year.
Our Advice Service is currently made up of two generalist Advisers, who report to, and are supported by, the Advice Service Manager. The Advice Service sits alongside the three other engagement teams; representation, community and opportunities.
We are currently recruiting for a Full Time (37 hour per week), Adviser to positively contribute to our Advice Service.
The main areas of advice are accommodation and academic.
Students are supported by us through all stages of UWE disciplinary matters, including preparing paperwork, reading draft statements, and accompanying students to panel meetings.
Annually, the Advice Service will run the Accommodation Fair, and assist The Students’ Union with organisational wide events/ projects such as Freshers/ Welcome Fairs and Elections.
The Advice Service holds the Advice Quality Standard, following a recent audit by Recognizing Excellence. This quality mark shows that we provide a high-quality service, with many areas of good practice being highlighted.

Grade: 4.1
Salary: £27,249
Duration of Role: Permanent
Hours per Week: Monday-Friday 37 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7
Given the nature of the post, weekend and evening working may be required with notice to achieve the desired outcomes at key times of the year, this can be outlined during interview.
Holiday: 27 Days + Closure Days + Bank Holidays
Location: Based at Frenchay Campus- Bristol
*The postholder will be required to work at, or from any of the Union’s establishments (Bower Ashton Campus, Glenside Campus etc)
*Please note that due to the nature of our organisation, we do not recognise hybrid or remote working. Therefore this is an in-person position and you will be required to work from the locations outlined.
