A Finance Manager is sought to join the UWE Students' Union in Bristol at one of the country’s popular higher education institutions. The main purposes of the role are to manage the finances and to be a member of the senior management team of the Students' Union.

The organisation operates a range of representative, welfare, advice and support services; as well as running bars, shops, a job shop, nursery and lettings agency. Turnover last year was £5.2m.

• Title: Finance Manager
• Location: Frenchay, Bristol
• Salary: Circa £40,000 per annum Pro Rata 25 hours per week
• Benefits: 30+ days holiday, flexible working, Pension scheme, Death in Service & Permanent Health Insurance

 The Finance Manager role will include the following responsibilities:

• Managing the Finance, Payroll and EPOS team staff and ensuring that all teams are providing an excellent quality of service
• Producing monthly management accounts
• Preparation of the draft annual accounts
• Producing budgets, cash flow projections and other financial information as required
• Reviewing of systems, regulations and procedures to ensure that the organisation is operating effectively
• Investment of cash balances to maximise returns

The ideal Finance Manager will possess the following skills and attributes:

Essential:

• A financial qualification (or part qualification)
• Substantial experience in a finance environment
• Proven staff management skills
• Experience in the operation of financial and payroll systems
• The ability to motivate and generate a good team spirit
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent time management skills 
• A good standard of general education
• A hands on approach
