PR and Communications Coordinator
The Students’ Union at UWE is looking for a PR and Communications Coordinator to join its energetic Marketing Team.
Working closely with the team, you will lead the organisation’s communications channels and support our staff and students to plan and implement effective campaigns and messages through multiple channels, including digital, print and face-to-face. You will also support our Presidents and Officers to deliver engaging campaigns.
As the successful candidate, you will be a team player with a can-do attitude, who is enthusiastic about the benefit of clear and effective communication channels. You will have impeccable writing skills and be proficient in social media targeting and communication, as well as being a creative thinker, who is full of fresh ideas about how to engage with our students, staff and the University.
We are looking for someone educated to degree level (or equivalent), who has previous experience of working within a communication, PR and/or marketing role.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Communications
1. Communications – To deliver a range of communications and campaigns through digital, print and face-to-face that truly represents our brand.
2. Content creation – Responsible for delivering our content strategy to drive high engagement with our students across all of our platforms.
3. Raise the profile of Student President/Officers and work closely with them to plan and deliver successful student-led campaigns.
4. PR – responsible for raising the positive profile of The Students’ Union to the University, community, media and other stakeholders.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
5. Coordinate our email marketing, including content-driven newsletters and targeted campaigns.
6. Keep up-to-date with what is happening across The Students’ Union and write regular news pieces highlighting our impact, success stories and achievements, as well as stories about our members and their successes.
7. Create inspiring and effective copy about the organisation for use in digital and print, social media.
8. Champion and embed our tone of voice within the organisation.
9. Proofread a variety of hardcopy and digital communications such as flyers, reports, blogs, email marketing and web content, this includes proofing content before it goes into design.
10. Support the planning and implementation of Student President/Officer and student-led campaigns.
11. Lead on President/Officer communications, driving activity of and engagement with their social media profiles, blogs, videos, etc.
12. Work closely with internal staff, students, University Press team, media and other third parties to raise the profile of The Students’ Union
13. Support the Marketing Manager and HR Manager in the development and implementation of our internal communications, including intranet, e-bulletins and all staff events.
14. Measure, monitor and report on the effectiveness of communications, e.g. email open rates, google analytics and social media insights.
15. Help to manage student staff and volunteers to support union projects, events and campaigns.
16. To work within agreed budgets, reporting any issues of concern immediately to your line manager.
17. To act in accordance with the policies and procedures laid out in the Staff Handbook.
18. Any other reasonable duties as directed by the organisation.
