Representation Team Leader

The Students’ Union at UWE is currently recruiting for a Representation Team Leader to join our Representation team on a Full Time, 37 hours per week, permanent basis. 

We are looking for someone with experience of managing and/or supervising others, who embodies our organisational values and behaviours, to be our Representation Team Leader; to act as a people and team leader for projects relating to academic representation and democratic processes in the Representation Team in collaboration with key university stakeholders.

This position will also support the elected Full-Time Sabbatical Officers and Part Time Officers in achieving their goals whilst in post.

Here at The Students’ Union, our Representation Team advocates for the academic interests of students and ensures their experience is enhanced through the opportunities, community and representation that The Students’ Union at UWE provides. Key themes of work include the recruitment and training of student representatives, supporting the democratic processes of the organisation (such as Student Council and annual Student Elections) and delivering the annual staff and student celebration awards.

The Representation Team Leader will be responsible for effectively managing the three Representation Coordinators in post, leading them to develop, facilitate and support the system of academic representation and showcase it’s impact.

This positions reports to and will work with the Representation Manager, who will provide the overall departmental vision for the team, to identify projects that enhance the student experience and support the Coordinators to succeed whilst delivering their own projects. Being a team leader here at The Students’ Union at UWE will involve using our people excellence tools to enable staff to feel supported and empowered during their employee lifecycle to achieve their objectives and results. This will include conducting a comprehensive induction for new starters, ensuring staff understand their job descriptions and daily responsibilities, conducting regular 121s, probation reviews and annual performance reviews.

Additional Information 

Grade: 5.1 

Rate of pay: £32,875

Duration of Role: Permanent 

Hours per Week:  37 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 days. *Please note that in line with the working time regulations, no current student applications will be considered for this position due to it being a full time, 37 hour per week position. 

* Given the nature of the post, weekend and evening work will be required to achieve the desired outcomes at key times of the year

Holiday:  27 Days + Closure Days + Bank Holidays 

Location: Based at Frenchay Campus, Bristol. The postholder will be required to work at, or from any of the Union’s establishments. (Bower Ashton Campus, Glenside Campus etc)
