It’s only 5 sleeps til’ the big day, so here is our top 5 tips to green up your Christmas!

1 ) Switch off the TV – and cut your energy consumption. During the Christmas week, the average person in the UK watches 30 hours of television, vegging out for over a day! Why not play games, go for a walk, do some carol singing and give your eyes a break from the screen instead?

2) Go Naked – for plastic-free veg and all the trimmings, head to your local market, or get a Christmas veg box delivered to your door! Not only will you be cutting your carbon emissions, but supporting local farmers and encouraging a more sustainable food system!

3) Give Green gifts - last minute Christmas shopping? Why not treat someone to a sustainable gift? Head to one of Bristol’s THREE zero waste shops for reusable coffee cups, eco-friendly cosmetics and chocolate:

4) Volunteer - Tis the season for giving, so why not help those less fortunate? Volunteer with ‘Caring in Bristol’ between the 24th December and the 1st January. They’ll be taking over the Trinity Centre and the Julian Trust Night Shelter to run their annual Caring at Christmas project, which supports hundreds of people experiencing homelessness in the city this Christmas!

5) Have Plant Based Christmas – George Monbiot (author and all round great green dude) recently found that the meat in your festive meal could create more greenhouse gas emissions than a flight from London to New York! Why not try a nut roast this Christmas? Or take on the Veganuary challenge in the new year!
