The Student's Union at UWE / UWE Bristol are proud to have taken part as part of one of 16 Universities in the Fairtrade University Award 2026 celebration and to have maintained our Fairtrade status for another year.

Delivered by the Fairtrade Foundation in partnership with SOS UK, the awards programme supports institutions to embed Fairtrade through:

• Teaching and research
• Governance and procurement
• Student campaigning and leadership

The Student's Union at UWE/ UWE Bristol and other participating institutions have been credited as showing creativity, resilience and leadership in driving change.

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. The Fairtrade mark, half owned by producers from Latin America Africa and Asia, ensures that commercial companies pay a minimum stable fair price for products. This enables producers to plan, improve their businesses, develop skills and increasingly, adapt to climate change. Fairtrade makes a real difference to the quality of peoples’ lives through life transforming funds to benefit the community through schools, roads, health clinics, and more.
