Movember 2025 brought together students, staff, sports clubs, and the wider UWE community in a month of fundraising, raising an impressive £12,523!
Movember 2025 brought together students, staff, sports clubs, and the wider UWE community in a month of fundraising, movement, awareness, and conversations around men’s mental health. From creative moustaches to Inside-Out Day, student interviews, and club challenges, this year’s campaign showcased the power of TeamUWE when we unite behind a cause.
Students raised an impressive £12,523 for Movember, supporting research and services in mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. A total of 259 students across 33 teams took part, growing over 200 moustaches and moving 1372.04 km for the cause!
On the 19th November, we invited students and staff to wear one item of clothing inside out to “flip the conversation” about men’s mental health. Social media posts included the hashtag #insideout4movember2025. Participation included:
Senior leaders, including Vice Chancellor Sir Steve West
SU Staff across all 3 campuses
Sports clubs (Cheerleading, Swimming and Water Polo, Rugby Union, Volleyball, Golf, UKAM, Women's Football, Dance)
This year, to raise both awareness and funds, over 30 events and activities were held by the Student Union’s sports clubs and societies, including:
A Movember themed tournament hosted by the UWE Volleyball Club
UWE Snowsport’s "Move for Movember" running sessions
Golf Club’s one day 72 Hole Challenge
Movember themed football matches
UWE Social Football and Social Netball fundraiser, seeing the teams go head-to-head in each other's sports before ending with an intense game of dodgeball.
Movember saw the President of the Moustache Social Society training with the Comets and UWE’s Cheerleading Club, + performing with them at a Charity Football Match! The Comets’ also took a cold-water plunge, wore moustaches to lectures, and hosted a sponsored 5KM walk in collaboration with the Moustache Social Society to raise over £550 for Movember!
UWE Men’s Rugby Union were our top fundraisers of 2025, raising over £3,600 in November. Attending lectures in full fancy dress to start conversations about men’s health and to promote their clubs’ fundraising efforts, a charity football match with UWE’s Cricket Club, and finally ending the month by becoming a choir and singing Christmas carols on campus - the clubs’ loaded calendar of events paid off and they raised an incredible amount of money!
We want to express our thanks and gratitude to the Club Committees for leading grassroots engagement through the month and to every student who took part and posted content. Check out our Movember Instagram to find out more about the campaign!
