1. The Bristol Pound is a local currency intended to support local businesses, offering both paper currency and electronic accounts managed by a regulated financial institution. Over 600 businesses or organisations within the city accept Bristol Pounds, including First Bus and the City Council for council tax payments.
2. That the adoption of the Bristol Pound within the Students' Union trading outlets, and the circulation of said currency to students by setting up exchange points, will make the Bristol Pound more widely accessible and encourage students to use local businesses and emphasise the importance of the student population within the local economy.
1. The Bristol Pound shall be accepted for payment of goods and services at all UWESU bars and shops within the Bristol based campuses, and the SU shall make the necessary arrangements to facilitate the "text to pay" service;
2. The Students' Union shall seek to arrange with Bristol Credit Union for each Bristol based campus to have an exchange point within the SU shop and/or bar, where sterling may be exchanged for the Bristol Pound at a 1:1 ratio;
3. The Students' Union shall provide the option for a percentage of staff salaries to be made payable in Bristol Pounds.
