During February, The Students’ Union and UWE Bristol worked together to create a series of events, for this year’s Feel Good February campaign. Each week across the month we focused on key wellbeing strategies which were Relax, Eat Well, Get Active and Try Something New.
During February, The Students’ Union and UWE Bristol worked together to create a series of events, for this year’s Feel Good February campaign. Each week across the month we focused on key wellbeing strategies which were Relax, Eat Well, Get Active and Try Something New.
Relax focused on encouraging students to take time for themselves within the day. To support this we gave out mindfulness colouring sheets, stress balls and herbal teas. We also advised students on how to take time for themselves during their degrees. We also had a mindfulness workshop with Neil Morbey, from Positively Mindful. Neil has run several mindfulness workshops at Bower in the past and they have always proven popular. The second week was Eat Well. During this week we gave out a range of food and drink vouchers, as well as free recipe cards to inspire students to make healthy meals at home. Off the Record also had a stall which provided information about mental health support for students within Bristol. The third week of Feel Good February focused on the objective Get Active and to celebrate we provided guided wellbeing walks at Bower Ashton and Arnolfini. Maps of the area were provided and we encouraged people to walk mindfully, making sure they took the time to stop, observe their surroundings and take time for themselves. In the final week, we motivated students to Try Something New. We had volunteering stalls at Bower Ashton, which showed students the variety of opportunities available at UWE Bristol and within the community. We also had a drumming workshop at The Students’ Union Bar, run by Kabbo Ferdinand from the Urban Word Collective. This was a fun activity which caught a lot of peoples’ attention and several students got involved, including our own City Campus Officer, Joe Marshall Evans.
