VP Community and Welfare
One of my manifesto pledges was to set up a Halls Rep system this year, of course these systems take time and there is a lot of groundwork to be done beforehand.
This is why in October myself and fellow officers went around UWE Accommodation asking what you would like them to stop, start, and keep doing. We had 129 responses in all, and got feedback on a range of issues. We also gave out a lot of rainbow drops to thank you for your help (yummy!).
We chatted to you about noise, takeaways being delivered to your door, laundry and rent prices. It was great to be able to hear your experiences, and then take these to UWE Accommodation. We also encouraged students to submit Ideas: one about wifi in the laundry rooms and another about getting takaways to your door. You can vote on and discuss these Ideas on our website. We want to make it as simple as possible for you to get your voice heard, and to make the changes that you want.
After getting this feedback we wrote a report up and delivered it to UWE Accommodation. Jamie (VP Education) and myself then met with Accommodation Services to pass this feedback on. The feedback you gave is now being looked into and worked on - we will hopefully see some wins for you soon!
If you are interested in helping with a Halls Rep system, and want to be a representative for your courtyard please email vpcommwelfare@uwe.ac.uk for more information.
