We wish them good luck competing in Rowing and Hurdles
Pete learnt to row at UWE Bristol and went on to become the Boat club President in his final year when he was also selected for the GB U23. squad. Pete went on to do his masters at Oxford and competed in the Oxford v Cambridge boat race, before competing in his first Olympics, Beijing 2008 in the men’s four and again four years later in London 2012.
A double Olympic Gold Medallist, multiple World and European Champion, this is likely to be his final Olympics where he strives to become one of the world elite as a three time Olympic Champion.
Andy came to UWE for his undergraduate as one of the most promising British High hurdlers since Colin Jackson. Whilst at UWE Bristol, Andy held consecutive BUCS Championship titles both indoors and out; whilst still a student here he was selected for London 2012, in an injury hampered season but sadly he had to pull out of the heats due to injury. We are happy to say that despite an injury racked four years, he managed to produce a PB at the London Anniversary Games, the final warm up event before Rio. If he can stay fit and healthy it is definitely within his capabilities to make the podium.
