The Scholarship was presented on Wednesday, for special contribution to sport at UWE.
Congratulations to Annette Cook who was awarded the First Eleanor Rose Scholarship for special contribution to sport at UWE, on Wednesday 27 January 2016.
Annette Cook from UWE Basketball was the recipient of the inaugural scholarship. Annette is the club vice president, 1st team captain, leading points scorer, a current national league player and she volunteers as a table official for the club.
The scholarship was set up by UWE Vice Chancellor Steve West after UWE students Hannah Lawton and Lauren Morton spent 96 days rowing across the Atlantic. The scholarship was open to students of all sports regardless of ability and a panel of UWE and The Students’ Union staff, students, Eleanor’s mother Caroline and Hannah decided on the winner earlier last month.
Eleanor’s parents and Hannah Lawton formally presented the award on Wednesday 27 January 2016, just before tip-off for UWE 1st Team v Southampton Solent 1st Team in the Centre for Sport.
