Great News: Greener Futures is a UK & Ireland Green Gown Award Finalist!
We are very happy to share that The Students’ Union at UWE’s Greener Futures Initiative has officially been named a finalist in the prestigious 2026 UK & Ireland Green Gown Awards under the Student Engagement category!
What are the Green Gown Awards?
The Green Gown Awards are the sector’s premier recognition for outstanding sustainability initiatives across higher and further education. Being named a finalist means our work is being showcased as an industry-leading example of student-driven sustainability action.
Why this is huge for us!
Our entry, "Greener Futures – students driving sustainable change!", highlights the incredible journey of this project. What started in 2017 with 5 participating student groups has grown into a movement involving 35 sports and societies and 41 elected Sustainability Officers taking action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Being shortlisted on a national stage validates the tremendous effort colleagues and student leaders put into empowering students and driving real sustainability culture across campus.
Double Reason to Celebrate!
UWE Bristol has also been named a Green Gown finalist in the Creating Impact category for the UWE Bristol Circular Economy Programme.

Thank you all for your continued support in making sustainability central to the student experience at UWE and achieving against our strategic goals and values!
