We are currently looking for two Student Trustees to fill positions on our Trustee Board, overseeing the strategic direction of The Students’ Union and ensure we meet our vision of being a nationally recognised Students’ Union that our members are proud of.

We are currently looking for two Student Trustees to fill positions on our Trustee Board, overseeing the strategic direction of The Students’ Union and ensure we meet our vision of being a nationally recognised Students’ Union that our members are proud of.

We have a diverse student body and would welcome applications from all groups.

Our Trustee Board currently consists of five President Trustees, four External Trustees and two Student Trustees.

What is a Student Trustee?

Trustees have overall responsibility for our charity, having the general control and management of the administration of our charity. Trustee’s work collectively as a board to make decisions at ‘Board of Trustee’ meetings. As a student trustee, you’ll be there to represent UWE Bristol students and make sure The Students’ Union acts in their best interests. We don’t expect you to know everything, all you need is to know what it’s like to be a student. Although there are individual responsibilities, any decisions made are made as a board, combining your experience of being a student with the expertise of our external trustees, who have long careers in their sectors. You will be well supported, both in training for the role and before every meeting. If you want to gain unique skills, give back to The Students’ Union, or make your CV stand out this is the role for you.

Time commitment: 36 Hours per annum

Requirements of the role:

  • Attendance at Trustee Board meetings (4 times a year)
  • Attendance at a sub-committee of Trustee Board which meets monthly for 1 hour
  • Pre-reading of reports and other documentation before meetings

In order to apply you must be:

  • A current UWE Bristol student that will be studying on a UWE Bristol course during the 2022/23 academic year
