We know this year feels a bit different and with all the restrictions it can feel hard to come up with festive activities to do. Here are a few suggestions of some things you can do to get you in the holiday spirit.

Christmas movie night

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the annual debate on what the best Christmas film is! Get into your pyjamas, make some hot chocolate and grab all the snacks. There is also the option to visit the Christmas drive-in cinema in Filton. Click here to find out more information.

Crafternoon

Whether it is as simple as making your own Christmas cards or as big as making a festive wreath there are plenty of fun activities, that you can do with your household. It can be a fun and relaxing way to get into the spirit and even make some homemade Christmas presents. You could also use this time to make some festive bakes such as mince pies or gingerbread.

Bristol ADVENTures

Part of the #BristolTogether collaboration, this arts project lights up a new building each day with a selection of the most iconic Christmas lyrics. The trail of 24 locations will be complete by Christmas Eve. More than 100 businesses have come together to make this possible so rally up your housemates and see if you can spot any! Find out more here.

Organise a Christmas treasure hunt for your housemates and family

Hide different Christmas themed clues around the house such as ‘The reindeer pulls a sleigh, not a car, train, or boat. You can find the next clue in the pocket of your ____.’ Once your housemates find them all it can lead to a prize such as a gingerbread house to decorate or a game to play.

Christmas shopping

The shops are open so you can now do all your Christmas shopping. Why not try and shop locally. Buying local is more important than ever this year and Bristol is famous for its array of independent shops. Gloucester Road is the longest high street of Independent Shops in Europe after all.

A Festive Walk

Get some fresh air, walk around and look at all the Christmassy houses. You could even get dressed up in Christmas jumpers and head to the centre to see the Christmas lights! There is a range of stalls and shops serving takeaway drinks and food that you could try while you are there.

We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and that these tips give you some tips for how to still do fun and festive things while following Government guidelines.
