On 24th May 2018, we hosted a livestream of the MSF Scientific Day 'Research' at Glenside Campus. The original conference was held in London, and was livestreamed all over the world. The University of Edinburgh was the only other UK higher education institution to host the event which was indeed an honourable position to be in. We watched talks on maternity and mortality, climate change, global health challenges, and diseases. Adil Najam's talk on climate change and global health was a particular highlight for us, and we hope to work with him in future. It was a long but interesting day with students joining us for parts of the day; certificates were sent out to those who attended.
Our future plans involve hosting a global health conference - perhaps not on the same scale - at Glenside. We've attended similar events in London and Southampton and have enjoyed them very much - it's very important for us that our colleagues at Glenside are exposed to the breadth of knowledge and experience presented by these opportunities to enhance and develop their own knowledge, practice, and aspirations. Look out for us at GlenFest and Freshers' Week for which we have exciting activities lined up. :)
If you want to get involved with the society in terms of planning events, please get in touch. We need more committee members! Spread the word.
