Last week I took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge with my fellow president Hannah (VP Socs & Comms) and some of our SU colleagues. I’m sure you’ve all seen it occupying your Facebook news feed or have even taken part yourself, but in case you haven’t what you essentially do is pour a bucket of ice cold water over your head for charity. It’s taken the world by storm. The person nominated for the challenge donates money to charity and nominates some more people to do the challenge.

Whatever your views on the challenge, there’s no doubt it’s raised an astronomical amount of money for charity, whether that be ALS (the charity who started to challenge) or any other charity that people taking part may have donated to. My money went to UWE RAG Committee, who Hannah also nominated to take on the challenge next.
This week I’ve taken on another water challenge, this time the Frank Water JoinJon challenge of drinking only water for a week to raise awareness of those who do not have access to clean drinking water. Myself and Charlie (SU President) were challenged by UWE Hospitality to take this on together, as we believe there’s strength in numbers, especially to get through the day without the usual morning coffee!
I must admit, while attending a function earlier in the week I let slip and drank some orange juice for which I have incurred a fine of 50p to donate to charity. Still, every little helps!
