To build a university community where every male student feels heard, respected, supported and empowered academically, socially, physically, and emotionally.

To transform the experience of male students by creating opportunities that strengthen wellbeing, build real connections, develop leaders, and ensure no student feels invisible.

Every student deserves to know someone genuinely cares.

 

Building Stronger Minds, Not Silent Struggles

I will introduce Men Talk a regular space for honest conversations, shared experiences, and real support. I will also work closely with Student Support Services to make sure more men know where to turn when they need help.

 

Creating a Brotherhood That Lasts Beyond Graduation.

Loneliness is real. Many students eat alone, struggle to make friends or quietly disconnect because they don’t feel they belong.

I want to change that.

I will launch No One Eats Alone, creating simple opportunities for students to meet over lunch, coffee, or conversation. One conversation can change someone’s entire university experience.

I will organize social evenings, cultural events, sports activities, and networking opportunities that bring men together across different backgrounds, cultures, and courses. Strong communities grow when people know each other, support each other and celebrate each other.

 

Developing Healthy Men for a Healthy Future

A healthy mind needs a healthy body. Working with sports clubs, fitness facilities, and wellbeing teams, I will organize fitness challenges, recreational sports, health campaigns, and workshops that encourage better habits and stronger lifestyles.

 

Unlocking Potential Through Leadership, Careers and Opportunity

Every student arrives with dreams and ambitions. My role is not only to support men through difficult moments, but also to help them prepare for life after graduation.

 

My Leadership Rooted in Purpose

My faith teaches me to love my neighbor, serve with humility and treat people with compassion. These values shape my leadership, but my commitment is to every student at UWE regardless of faith, culture, or background.

I don’t want my time in office to be remembered because I held a position. I want it to be remembered because students felt supported, respected, and inspired.

Men's Welfare Officer Purpose of Post:

1. To represent and campaign on issues related to men’s mental health, wellbeing and welfare.
2. To work The Students’ Union and its initiatives that have a focus on men’s mental health, wellbeing and welfare; providing strategic advice and offering operational support where possible.
3. To communicate and liaise with The Students’ Union Executive Team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• To be a member of, attend and regularly engage with The Students’ Union Executive (8 times a year).
• To represent issues on men’s mental health, wellbeing and welfare at The Students’ Union Executive, in the wider Student’s Union and to the University.
• To champion and work on national men’s mental health, wellbeing and welfare campaigns (e.g. Movember, Heads Together and CALM)
• To regularly obtain feedback from students via GOATing (Go Out And Talk) sessions and present this to ensure The Students’ Union accurately reflects the needs and wants of its members.
• To hold office/digital hours (normally one hour a week) - you can utilise the desk space in any of The Students’ Union Offices on any campus or we can book you a space.
• To maintain your personal and official email account for The Students’ Union, replying to emails and queries as and when they come in within a reasonable time.
• To actively promote yourself via social media and promote the work of The Students’ Union to encourage students to engage and maximise the opportunities available to them.
• To encourage other students to be involved with the democratic processes of The Students’ Union.
• To ensure Student Ideas are taken forward and actioned wherever possible. 
• To support activities such as Open Days, Freshers’ events and other events run by The Students’ Union.
• To uphold the core values of The Students’ Union and be an ambassador for The Students’ Union.
• To build a community of men students though running events or engaging with men students however else you deem appropriate.
