CHELA ROSSI (SHE/HER)
CHELA ROSSI (SHE/HER)
What am I working on?
Bring more biodiversity onto campus by lobbying for a collaboration with Grow Wilder, UWE’s grounds keepers and UWE’s Green Space Volunteers to bring more native, habitat-friendly plants and wildflower
onto
campus.
More
accessible green spaces
that are
beautiful
in addition to providing critical refuge for wildlife.
An animal refuge will double-up as a
student refuge
, with more spaces to escape for that much needed mental breather and recovery. There are myriad studies proving the connection between access to nature and positive
mental health and wellbeing
outcomes.
Raise awareness of these benefits, and of how
you
can utilise these for your own wellbeing. By bringing nature onto UWE, we also make it accessible and inclusive!
Environmental justice is social justice
– Ethnic minorities and lower income students have fewer opportunities to access nature. Let’s change this.
C
limate anxiety
is a real and debilitating issue thanks to the uncertain times we’re currently living.
Do you know what the future holds?
Do you know what’s happening to tackle this crisis?
Or how to navigate the seemingly constant bombardment of Do's and Do Not's
R
aise awareness
about climate anxiety, and to tackle these concerns with current
practical guidance
and accessible information.
UpDates:
Chela has been working with Environmental Management Student's and lectures to host Climate Convos and Cake (3C's). She is currently focus on the branding and promotion of the initiative to ensure that students can easily find out about the sessions.
Chela is campaigning to save the below area (outlined in red) for rewilding. The 9.5-hectare site is on Frenchay campus and is currently set aside for development. The “rewilding” site would be accessible to students for wellbeing, research and of course, wildlife. Think of it as a sort of mini-nature reserve! This idea is currently up as a Student Idea – Please vote for it
here.
