Bringing more biodiversity onto campus by lobbying for a collaboration with Grow Wilder, UWE’s grounds keepers and UWE’s Green Space Volunteers to bring more native, habitat-friendly plants and wildflower onto campus.
More accessible green spaces that are beautiful in addition to providing critical refuge for wildlife.
An animal refuge will double-up as a student refuge, with more spaces to escape for that much needed mental breather and recovery. There are myriad studies proving the connection between access to nature and positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes.
Raising awareness of these benefits, and of how you can utilise these for your own wellbeing. By bringing nature onto UWE, we also make it accessible and inclusive! Environmental justice is social justice – Ethnic minorities and lower income students have fewer opportunities to access nature. Let’s change this.
