We all want our students to have a safe place to spend time with friends, in bars and social spaces that put responsible drinking and student welfare at the heart of their operation and The Students Union at UWE does just that. For the past 5+ years, we have scored GOLD in the BBN awards run by NUS (National Union of Students). We take pride in taking part in this award each year and strive to keep getting gold to make sure that we are doing all that we can to keep our students safe when coming to our Student Union and at all of our events. "The Best Bar None (BBN) scheme recognises, promotes and rewards venues that practice excellent social responsibility.
The Students' Union were awarded Excellent in Green Impact Students' Unions Accreditation. We were also awarded the Highest Scoring Students' Union in the UK for the fourth year in a row. This reflects our ongoing sustainability commitments and the passion and hard work of our students and staff.

Full of Beans coffee cart, which is jointly run by UWE Bristol and The Student Union at UWE, was outright winner in the category of Best Fairtrade cafe or restaurant.
The Students' Union at UWE Bristol won a gold award for their Fairtrade Coffee Cart, Full of Beans.
The Students' Union won the Student Engagement Award for Bring Your Own Bowl and have progressed through to the International phase. Amy Staff also won the Student Champion Award for her hard work throughout the year.

BAM marketing agency toured Freshers Fairs across the UK from Scotland to the South coast, surveying thousands of students and hundreds of stallholders to compile the most detailed research forming our Best Freshers Fairs of 2017. 93% of students rated the overall experience of the Freshers Fair. 100% of the stallholders said they will come back next year.*Based on indepedent feedback gathered by BAM Marketing Agency. The Students' Union at UWE's Commercial Manager (Licensed Trade), Paul Dingley, was also shortlisted for the Staff Champion category.
The Students' Union and UWE Bristol were awarded the NUS Alcohol Impact Accreditation in December 2017 for promoting responsible alcohol consumption amongst students in order to build a healthier and safer student community.

The Students' Union and UWE Bristol were finalists for the EAUC Green Gown Awards 2016, shortlisted in six categories, with The Students' Union also shortlisted in the Student Engagement Category for Green Team.

The Students’ Union at UWE Shop has won Gold for Best Fairtrade Retailer at the South West Fairtrade Business Awards. Last year the shop won Best in Category, which is one of the most highly contested categories..
Full of Beans Coffee, a joint venture between The Students’ Union at UWE and UWE Hospitality Services won Best in Category foir 2012 and 2013, and was a Gold winner for Best Fairtrade Café for the last two years.
University of the West of England in partnership with UWE Students' Union has won gold for Best Fairtrade University or College for the past two years.
Now in their fourth year, the Awards reward businesses that demonstrate commitment to using and promoting Fairtrade. Over 140 applications for the awards were made in 2015.
The Fairtrade Business Awards are part of the Bristol Green Capital 2015 programme and link with the Go Green Business Scheme.
The Students’ Union Bars at UWE have been awarded gold in the Best Bar None scheme, a national award supported by the Home Office and aimed at promoting responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises.
The assessment took place both on and off site, covering elements such as staff training, security procedures and policies, health and safety and customer care.
The Gold award is the culmination of a great deal of hard work throughout the year, an award we are very proud of.
The Students’ Union Advice Centre was first awarded the Advice Quality Standard in 2009 and we currently hold it - showing that we are still achieving the standards required.

The Students’ Union at UWE were named as the runner up for the NUS Innovation in Internationalising the Student Experience award at the 2013 National Union of Students' Internationalisation Awards.
In what was a tough category; against big name opposition like the Edinburgh University Student Association, the University of Leeds and the University of Liverpool; The Students’ Union at UWE received a high commendation in order to recognise the innovation of the Students’ Union in creating bespoke support for international students through their Student Networks. The Students’ Union at UWE has achieved a silver award in their ‘Be a Champion’ accreditation scheme. This project aims to ensure that students are given the chance to make the most of the opportunities arising from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Students’ Unions across the country took part in the programme and it was seen as a great opportunity to showcase Surrey’s commitment to the Olympics and spread the word about our successes.
