The year 2022-23 was UWE Dance's most successful competitive season to date, with our squads winning a total of 19 trophies across 3 national competitions. Read below to learn more about each of our competitive teams.
TROUPE is UWE Dance's Intermediate Hip Hop crew, choreographed by Rachel Hickie. This incredibly talented squad always brings a mixture of styles to the floor, winning them 1st place at Royal Holloway Dance Competition and 2nd place at Cardiff Broadway Dance competition last season.
REWIND is UWE Dance's Advanced Hip Hop crew. This squad consistently bring trophies home every year with their high-energy performances combined with Rachel Hickie's highly intricate and creative choreography. Last season saw them win 1st place trophies at Cardiff Broadway and Royal Holloway Dance competitions, as well as an impressive 3rd place at the UK's largest dance competition hosted by Loughborough University.
Our Intermediate Ballet squad is a student-led team choreographed by our very own Natasha Monty. Last season was our Ballet squad's most impressive year-to-date winning 2nd place trophies at Loughborough University and Cardiff Broadway Dance competitions, as well as 3rd place at Royal Holloway Dance competition. We cannot wait to see what this squad has to offer this season!
Our Intermediate Jazz squad is another student-led team that never fails to bring the heat to competitions. Choreographed by former UWE Dance President, Reanna Grogan-Hellin, the squad bought home a 1st place at Cardiff Broadway dance competition and a 3rd place at Royal Holloway dance competition.
Our Contemporary squad only seems to get better and better each year and were entered into the Advanced category in our most recent competitive season. With the help of choreographer Ellie Harris who joined us for the 22-23 year, the squad bought home a 1st place trophy at Royal Holloway dance competition and won 2nd place at Cardiff Broadway dance competition.
Our Advanced Tap squad is UWE Dance's newest competitive team and was introduced during the 22-23 season. Led by our own Tap expert Lily James, the tap squad managed to impress the judges during their debut year, winning 1st place at Royal Holloway, 2nd place at Cardiff Broadway, and 3rd place at Loughborough University dance competition.

These weekly sessions are our mixed-ability recreational dance classes in which members can join in to learn choreography from our teachers. We offer a variety of styles during our PTT classes ranging from Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, and the occasional heels class! PTT provides our members with a space to just let loose and have fun while improving their own dance skills.

Each year, UWE Dance holds our annual showcase in which all our members get the opportunity to perform and show all the hard work that has taken place during the year. Although optional, we encourage all our members to take part as it really is such a great experience! Here are a few photos from our most recent show:
