Membership information
The year 2025-26 was UWE Dance's most successful competitive season to date, with our squads winning a total of 26 trophies across 3 national competitions (Cardiff, Loughbourugh and Surrey). Read below to learn more about each of our competitive teams.
TROUPE is UWE Dance's Intermediate Hip Hop crew. Our choreographer this year is Jada Pinnock, choreographer for Angels Dance Academy and Team England Hip Hop. This incredibly talented squad always brings a mixture of styles to the floor, winning them 2nd place at Cardiff Broadway Dance Competition and Surrey University Dance competition last season.
REWIND is UWE Dance's Advanced Hip Hop crew, also choreographed this year by Jada Pinnock. This squad consistently bring trophies home every year with their high-energy performances which saw them perform incredibly and bring home 1st place trophies at Cardiff Broadway, Surrey University, and Loughbourough University competitions last season.
Our Intermediate Ballet squad is a student-led team choreographed by our very own Neve Winders and Taryn Oxley. They always put their heart and soul into their dancing and their passion saw them bring home 1st place at Cardiff Broadway Dance competition, as well as 2nd place at Surrey University dance competition last season.
Our Intermediate Jazz squad is another team that never fails to bring the heat to competitions and was choreographed this year by the wonderful UWE Dance alumni, Layla Richards. Our Jazz team absolutely delivered this year winning not only 1st place trophies at Cardiff Broadway and Surrey, but also 'highest scoring dance' at Surrey too!
Our Advanced Contemporary squad is choreographed by Ellie Harris, who joined us for the 22-23 competitive year, and always creates beautiful pieces for us to take to our competitions! The contemporary team grew in numbers this year, which led them to 2nd place at Cardiff Broadway and 1st place at Surrey, where their dance also won the award for 'Best Concept'.
Our small but mighty Intermediate Tap squad was led this year by our very own tap expert Izzy Webber. This year the tap team worked extra hard and came home with 1st place trophies at Cardiff Broadway and Surrey, as well as a 3rd place trophy at Loughbourough!
Our Commercial Squad was brand new for the 25-26 season! Led by our very own dream team of Aamira, Nancy Gabriel and Jess Newton! The squad brought all the energy and took home 1st place at Loughborough University Dance Competition and 3rd place at Cardiff Broadway and Surrey University Dance Competitions.

These weekly sessions are our mixed-ability recreational dance classes in which members can join in to learn choreography from our teachers. Anyone is welcome to join whether you are a professional or complete beginner! We offer a variety of styles during our PTT classes ranging from Hip Hop style classes on a Monday, as well as more classical styles such as Jazz and Contemporary, and the occasional styles such as Musical Theatre on a Thursday! PTT provides our members with a space to just let loose and have fun while improving their own dance skills, as well as the opportunity to perform in our end of year showcase!

Each year, UWE Dance holds our annual showcase in which all our members get the opportunity to perform and show all the hard work that has taken place during the year.
