Shamil Mohamed Ali
Could Off The Wall Be for you? Shamil Mohamed Ali, your Sports and Health Officer, talks about why you should definitely get involved.
There’s no doubt that getting involved in sport at university is one of the top ten things to do when you arrive here at UWE Bristol. If however, you’re anything like me and the sound of a 7:00 training session sends chills down your spine, then we’ve got your back.
We totally get that sometimes you can’t commit to going to the same training sessions every week and you like to mix up what you do; or just don’t fancy forking out your hard earned cash on a gym membership. So we created the Off The Wall programme with you in mind.
Off the Wall is all about getting moving and having a laugh while you do it. We don’t care if you’re any good at it and we’re not about the whole competitive thing here at Off The Wall HQ. All that matters is that you enjoy doing it and meet some pretty cool people along the way too.
We’re all about thinking outside the box and finding random activities for you to try out. Whether you want a fun class to come along to every week, or learn a whole new sport - we’ve got it covered. This year we’ve introduced a whole host of weird and wonderful activities and we want to show them off.
Personally, jumping around on some kangaroo boots sounds like a pretty good Wednesday evening to me. Or if you fancy yourself as the new Katniss Everdeen, we’ve got a six week archery course to get you on your way to volunteer as tribute.
Dodge duck dip dive and dodge? That’s right, you can challenge your flatmates to hurl as many balls at each other all in the name of keeping active. Come along to dodgeball on a Thursday afternoon to kick-start your weekend.
You can swing from the ceiling on an aerial hoop, chill out with some yoga or learn to hula hoop like a pro, we’ve got it all.
We don’t want this to cost the earth, so for just £20 membership, you get access to all this and loads more.
