All Academic Personal Tutors should receive mental health awareness training

Extra Information:

Currently APTs don't receive any mental health awareness training, despite being front line staff. If they had mental health awareness training it would mean better support for our students, better sign posting and more informed staff.

It doesn't mean they become counsellors, it just means they know what to say, and what not to say to students and where to sign post them too.

9:46am on 20 Oct 17 Hi Maximillian, if you read the extra information provided it states: "It doesn't mean they become counsellors, it just means they know what to say, and what not to say to students and where to sign post them too. " I wouldn't want APTs to become counselors as that would not be appropriately. However knowing how to adequately signpost I believe is essential.

12:55pm on 19 Oct 17 I don't think this should be a requirement as Councillors are the ones who are meant to address mental health issues.
