Nowshin's Manifesto

1. Transparency

• Implement clear, easily accessible channels for students to understand and engage with UWE's democratic processes.

2. Inclusion

• Work to ensure that elections and decision-making processes are inclusive and that all students, including international and part-time students, feel represented

3. Engagement

• Promote greater student engagement in elections and decision-making through campaigns that raise awareness of how these processes affect their student experience

4. Accountability

• Create stronger feedback mechanisms so that elected representatives remain accountable to the students they represent

 

Democratic Procedures Officer Purpose of Post:

1. To ensure The Students’ Union’s democratic systems are engaging and inclusive.
2. To ensure that democratic processes are conducted in accordance with the bye-laws.
3. To propose changes to democratic systems based on student feedback.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• To be a member of and regularly engage with the Democratic Procedures Officers meeting.
• To regularly obtain feedback from students about how they engage and how they would like to engage with The Students’ Union’s democratic processes.
• To maintain your individual email account, replying to emails and queries as and when they come in within a reasonable time.
• To attend and actively encourage students to be involved with the democratic and election processes of The Students’ Union.
• To ensure Student Ideas are conducted fairly and monitor discussion on Ideas. 
• Up hold the core values of The Students’ Union and be an ambassador for The Students’ Union.
• To write proposals for improvements to Bye Law 6 (if you deem it appropriate) based on student feedback and take them to The Students’ Union Executive and Student Council Meeting for approval.
