Following from White Ribbon Day on November 25th
White Ribbon Day and the 16 days of activism are campaigns that aim to end Gender-Based Violence.
Violence Against Women and Girls covers a variety of issues, including sexual abuse, domestic abuse, stalking/harassment (including through technology), child abuse and exploitation.
Violence Against Women and Girls is on the rise nationally and has recently been declared a national emergency. New statistics show that Violence against women and girls makes up just under 20% of all recorded crime in England & Wales.
White Ribbon Day takes place on November 25th annually, that aims to raise awareness of Violence against Women and Girls. The campaign aims for Men and Boys to hold themselves accountable to women and each other to creative positive behaviour change.
This year's campaign is 'Speak up,' encouraging Men and Boys to speak up against misognistic or sexist comments and behaviour to create a world of equality and safety.
