Placement Uniform Swap Shop

We created the Placement Uniform Swap Shop at Glenside Campus to help students to cut waste and save money. The Swap Shop allows healthcare students to exchange old uniforms for newer, better fitting ones. The Swap Shop is open every Wednesday during term-time, between 12:00-14:00 in the SU space at Glenside Campus, 1H33 (opposite The Hub and Coffee Pod).

This year, we have added a new self-service system, to extend access to the Swap Shop. You can read more about it here!

Sustainability Hub and Community Corners

The Sustainability Hub aims to help UWE Students and Staff to live more sustainably, by allowing them to swap pre-loved clothes, books and household items. The Hub is located at UWE Frenchay Campus, in Room 1D015, next to the information point. Between September 2023 and May 2026, the Hub has saved 81,000 items from going to waste, preventing 217.4 tonnes in CO2 emmissions. You can read more about the Sustainability Hub here.

Following the success of the Sustainability Hub, we have set-up community corners in our Glenside and Bower Ashton spaces where students and staff can swap their pre-loved items. 

REGULAR EVENTS

We run regular events relating to sustainable fashion, such as clothes mending, clothes swaps, charity shop crawls and talks. If you or your student group would like to collaborate, please email thegreenteam@uwe.ac.uk. Keep an eye on our events listings at the bottom of this page or our Instagram here to find out when the next events are planned.

• Clothes mending and upcycling sessions: we run these at Frenchay and Bower. Our clothes mending sessions at Frenchay are run by Reclaimed Craft, a ex-Glenside student, follow her on Instagram here. At Bower they are run by UWE Fashion Technicians, and their sessions are called ‘MENDTalks’, more info here.
• Charity shop crawls: we usually do these along Gloucester road, email us if you would like to help organise one (thegreenteam@uwe.ac.uk).
• Clothes swaps: we usually run a clothes swap every couple of months at Frenchay, and we sometime incorporate a book swap into this as well! We are hoping to get a clothes swap going at Bower soon, if you would like to help organise this then please do reach out on: thegreenteam@uwe.ac.uk.
